Building Relationships

Building Relationships

At Scarning Pre School we understand the importance of working in partnership with our families to provide a happy and safe environment for our children to thrive.

For many children, starting pre school is their first step towards independence and we know that it can be daunting for them and yourselves as parents/carers.  Our settling in process aims to help them form relationships with the adults and feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

Key Worker

Before starting with us, your child will be allocated a key person. Your key person will talk with you to discuss your child’s routines, likes and dislikes and answer any question/queries you may have. Your key worker will also be responsible for observing your child throughout their time with us and updating their Famly learning journal.

Famly

We use an online learning journal called ‘Famly’ to record the children’s learning and development. If you are new to the setting you will receive an email with details of how to set up an account. You will then be able to log in and see photos and descriptions of activities your child has taken part in. We encourage all parents to access Famly regularly and for you to add your own photos and share with us the things that your child is doing outside of pre school. This might be sharing news of any special days out or holidays. It might be showing us a significant skill your child has mastered. If you need any help or have any questions on Famly please just come and ask, as we are always happy to show you how it all works.

All About Me Books

Your child will be issued with an ‘All about me book’. As the title suggests this is a book to share information and photographs to help us get to know your child. Please fill this in and send it in with your child when they start. The children love sharing these books with the adults and their friends and they are great conversation starters and settlers.

Accidents On Arrival

If your child has had an accident that has resulted in an injury (e.g. bruises, bumps, cuts) please inform your child’s key worker when your child arrives at the setting, as we may require you to fill in an ‘Accident on arrival’ form. This is just to notify us of any injuries we should be aware of and also makes it clear when the injuries have occurred.

What Our Families are Saying

My child loves coming to pre school, and always asks if she’s going in when we pass on school runs for her older sister. We are very happy with the care she receives.

My son really enjoys attending your pre school and misses it on his days off. He has settled in nicely and we appreciate it. Staff have been amazing too. Thank you.

All staff are lovely and very helpful.
